Hand made pine kitchen. 5m x 4.3m
The kitchen is the heart of the home and it has been designed and created to be a wonderful cooking, eating and social experience. The kitchen features a traditional high ceiling, the floor is solid limestone flags approximately two inches in thickness and we have installed a restored AGA range from the 1940’s which has been converted for burning oil. The AGA is a wonderful source of heat, creating an atmosphere that only an AGA can: “once an AGA owner you’ll never want to live without one again!” Cooking with an AGA takes on a whole new meaning, from bread baking to slow-roasting and casseroles, the AGA makes cooking a pleasure for even the most unenthusiastic cook! During the summer months the AGA can be turned off and alternative appliances can be put to use.
These practical appliances consist of:
1. A Neff double oven and grill (stainless steel)
2. A microwave oven / grill (stainless steel)
3. A 90cm stainless steel gas hob which also features a cast iron griddle
4. An over-head extractor cleverly concealed
5. An integrated Bosch dishwasher
6. A stainless steel American-style double door fridge/freezer with cold, filtered water dispenser.
7. A storage heater for chilly spells when the AGA has been turned off.
The kitchen units have been hand crafted in pine and feature hand-forged iron butterfly hinges and door knobs. The cupboards are traditionally waxed finished and incorporate a traditional Irish plate rack and Belfast sink with solid hardwood work tops for preparing food. A slab of granite sits to the side of the AGA for the placing of very hot cooking utensils and for rolling pastry.
The kitchen boasts an abundance of natural light, and also has a variety of lighting options for both practicality and atmosphere. Two of the windows have window seats looking out onto the cottage garden and mountains.
